Responsible Gaming
At Theatres of Georgetown, we believe gambling should always be a form of entertainment — never a way to make money or escape personal problems. If gambling stops being fun, it is time to stop.
This page provides resources, self-assessment tools, and helpline information to help you or someone you know maintain a healthy relationship with gambling.

Responsible Gambling Principles
- Set a budget before you play. Decide how much you can afford to lose and never exceed that amount.
- Set time limits. It is easy to lose track of time when gambling online. Use session reminders or built-in casino timers.
- Never chase losses. If you lose your budget, walk away. Trying to win back losses almost always leads to bigger losses.
- Do not gamble under the influence. Alcohol and other substances impair judgment and lead to poor decisions.
- Keep gambling separate from your finances. Never gamble with money earmarked for rent, bills, groceries, or other essentials.
- Take regular breaks. Step away from the screen frequently to maintain perspective.
- Balance gambling with other activities. Gambling should be one of many leisure activities, not your only one.
